The Polish maestro was a winner of this event in 1998 and four years ago and he made it a hat trick of wins as he narrowly won through by five points from Italy's Stefano Pelinga. Armed with his usual array of props, Wolkowski had a night to remember as a succession of elaborate tricks paid dividends with the distinguished panel of judges. Two-time previous winner Alex Pagulayan opened the proceedings with a knockabout routine but too many of his efforts failed to come off. Ralf Souquet's meticulous routine kept the crowd entertained and he was followed by World 9 Ball Champion Daryl Peach whose dry humour was the backbone of his 15 minutes. The second half of the show was given over to the professionals and both Pelinga and Wolkowski delivered the goods with the Pole edging it. "I'm delighted to have won this again," said a jubilant Wolkowski.

Held in Chesapeake, VA, 219 players entered for a chance to walk away with the prestigious title and $40,000 first-place prize, but in the end only one man could achieve it. An early scratch by Schmidt let Luat jump to a 2-0 lead before Schmidt managed to get back to the table to tie things up.
